Latin America / Cooperation between justice systems
Presentation of the judicial assistance form to Latin American justice institutions
The cooperation between the authorities that act in the criminal field is more and more necessary nowadays and requires systems or tools that facilitate the action of the legal operators to streamline mechanisms of investigation, processing, as well as exchange of data between them in order to contain crimes beyond the national borders of States. That is why in recent months, a computer tool inspired by the International Judicial Assistance Protocol has been developed that contributes to the simplification of international judicial cooperation procedures through tools that are efficient, save time and costs, and adapt to the reality of the countries that decide to adopt it in their systems.
Main objectives:
- Streamline material exchange mechanisms in the international sphere
- Provide accessible and direct information on international law to all prosecutors and judges.
- Generate approved forms for the creation of international letters rogatory in prosecutors, judges and other legal operators
- Generate a culture of international judicial cooperation in the national and international spheres
- Establish telematic tools that facilitate the exchange of requests for international judicial assistance
- Simplify international judicial cooperation through the electronic transmission and reception of letters rogatory
- Establish mechanisms for the translation of letters rogatory that streamline the procedure and significantly save the derived costs
