    Regional seminar on tracing, identification and recovery of proceeds from crime

    The activity will last two and a half days and the regional seminar is focused on strengthening the exchange of experiences, best practices and contacts between police units specialized in the investigation, tracing and recovery of criminal assets.

    During the working sessions, different experiences will be presented, in addition to the Guide for the investigation, identification, location and recovery of criminal assets created by two experts from police and judicial entities to become the main basis for police and judicial work in this area. In addition, a joint action plan on the subject will be developed.

    Based on the experiences developed during 2018, 2019 and 2020 in crime assets in the components of police cooperation and between justice systems, have been organized to deepen the knowledge of techniques for the identification, tracing, recovery and management of crime assets.

    The activity will serve to present the guide, adapt it to the needs and particularities of each country and then validate it jointly. In this sense, the work will focus on strengthening and enhancing the capabilities of police units in the investigation, tracing and recovery of assets.

    Consequently, it is expected that the Regional Seminar will be the key basic action to launch different technical and training activities with the aim of implementing the Regional Guide and strengthening the investigation, localization and recovery of criminal assets.

    The seminar will be attended by:

    • Experts from specialized crime asset services of European prosecutors’ offices and police.
    • Representatives of Latin American units specialized in this area.
