Launch of the Team Europe Initiative for Justice and Security
In a fast-changing geopolitical landscape, Team Europe was born out the need to work collectively to take swift and decisive action at multilateral and country level. Through meaningful partnerships, Team Europe’s objective is to leverage the EU collective weight and strategic interests in the (joint) policy dialogue with partner countries. In doing so, the Team Europe approach enhances coordination and optimal use of resources for sustainable impact.
In order to get this objective the Team Europe Initiatives has been set up. One of them, the TEI for Justice and Security EU-LAC, will be launched in Paris in the framework or a high level meeting of EL PAcCTO.
This regional TEI responds to EU-LAC shared challenges in the area of security and justice, calling for strengthening of bi-regional partnership and cooperation at all levels.
The current EU programmes, such as EL PAcCTO, are building first-of-the-kind and highly appreciated inter-regional cooperation on transnational organized crime, building bridges between security and justice-related institutions in the EU and LAC.
Jolita Butkeviciene, director for Latin America and the Caribbean, Directorate-General for International Partnerships of the European Commission and Brian Glynn, executive director for the Americas, European External Action Service will be responsible for launching the TEI in Paris together with representatives of some EU Member States (Spain, Italy and France).
