Seminar "The spaces of drug trafficking and the urgency of coordinating investigations in the penitentiary and border areas".

The Seminar, organized by 3 Programs, EUROFRONT, EL PAcCTO and COPOLAD III, has the general objective of stimulating the adoption at the South American level of strategies to combat transnational crimes in strategic areas such as border crossings and penitentiary systems, for a more effective and efficient cooperation action and the elaboration of hypotheses of agreements and MoUs or networks among experts to make the fight against these crimes at the regional level more effective, particularly drug trafficking, smuggling and terrorism.

 

The Joint Seminar also pursues the following specific objectives:

1. To raise awareness among all actors involved on the importance of promoting integrated border management as a necessary strategy to counter cross-border crimes and in particular drug trafficking, and thus contribute to security, improved respect and protection of human rights and social and economic development at the national level.

 

2. Capitalize on the results of the Penitentiary PAcCTO in terms of international articulation at the regional level among the penitentiary administrations involved in the fight against the infiltration of the CTO.

 

3. Socialize the work methodology in regional networks that have been consolidated as a successful working tool for international and inter-institutional articulation in European programs.
