EL PAcCTO supports the formation of two Specialised Multidisciplinary Teams in Panama


Panama sets up two teams specialising in combatting tax crimes and environmental crimes with support from the European Union. The event has been attended by the Panamanian ministers of public security, economy and finance, environment, the national attorney general and the director of the Financial Analysis Unit.

 

Harmonisation of environmental criminal law in the FOPREL framework


EL PAcCTO and FOPREL have presented a legislative technical report on the harmonised classification of environmental crimes. Various parliamentarians from Central America and Caribbean countries participated in the meeting, as well as guests including European Union representatives.

 

 

EL PAcCTO strengthens the fight against human trafficking between both regions


EL PAcCTO, together with ten countries in Latin America and two in Europe, has created the LYNX Network, which is made up of police officers specialised in the fight against the trafficking of persons. The purpose is to be a bi-regional space for dialogue and exchange between Latin America and the European Union.

 

EL PAcCTO participates in an international symposium on prison management


EL PAcCTO programme participated in the International Symposium, “Reality and Challenges for Prison Management in the Face of Drug Trafficking and Organised Crime” led by the Chilean Prison Service. The objective is to promote a space for dialogue to learn about other international experiences.

 

International legal cooperation is key to the fight against trafficking in cultural property


More than 300 people participated in the online seminar “Trafficking in cultural property: the business of organized crime” promoted by EL PAcCTO to discuss and study the relationship between this type of crime and criminal organizations.  During the event, the Guide on the fight against illicit trafficking in cultural property was presented.
